Empower

Let's strengthen your team for you

One of the most effective ways to empower a business is through technology. Technology amplifies things, and when added to your business, it can amplify the business process, the culture, capabilities and all that your business has to offer. However, technology will only improve a good thing or work well with a system that is already in place. For technology to function effectively, it must be designed well, and the user must be ready to adopt it. Without these two, technology will just go to waste with little to results in the long run. There is always the need to first deal with capability gaps, deficiencies in the procedure, and weaknesses before the innovations are introduced, or else the organisation will not reap the full benefits.

Integrating technology into an organisation requires more than just developing the solution; in fact, this just the start in most cases. Where the real work is in equipping staff and building their capacity to make use of the innovation; without that, any deployment of innovation might just turn out to be a waste of resources. There are instances where the management will decide on an innovative step for their operations and choose to work on it in secret with a contractor for many years before finally deploying it when they feel it is ready. In most of these cases, all they do is give a few days of training to the staff who will be using the innovation, or they might even choose to give no training at all—just expecting them to learn through usage or taught by a colleague. This system usually fails most times because most of the users never really catch on, and the resources spent on the innovation end up going to waste because the adoption is not seamless enough to ensure the results that are actually expected.

To empower the user, the first thing that needs to be done is including the end-users in the innovative process, letting them see how the tool or process is applied, the benefits, and how they can leverage the skills they already have on the user. Empowerment is about building capability and capacity. It is only when this happens that there can be real empowerment and improvement in the business.
